Kentucky Telco VISA Plantinum News
In a continual effort to enhance our products and services to meet the changing needs of our members, we are pleased to inform you that in March, we switched our VISA Platinum Credit Card processor. By switching card vendors, we are able to offer these member benefits:
- Continued great low interest rates.
- Online access to Credit Card information through e-Teller.
- Immediate credit for credit card payments made through automatic transfer from a Kentucky Telco account, or by transferring from a Telco account via e-Teller. Simply select the VISA Platinum loan when transferring money online for a credit card payment.
- Expanded after hours support, including 24 hour cardholder service.
- Enhanced Credit Card Rewards program, which now includes gift card options as well as travel awards.
- Existing CU Reward Points transferred automatically to the new Extra Awards program.

Our New Phone System is here!
Kentucky Telco is pleased to introduce the exciting features of our enhanced phone system. Some of the time saving benefits include:
- No more waiting for a Contact Service Representative to give basic account information! You will now be able to listen to your account balances, deposits and your last five transactions. All you need to know is your member number and access code.
- The new system will allow you to know where you are in queue for the next available Contact Center Representative.
- Call Back Option – Don’t have time to wait? Keep your place in queue! Once it is your turn, a Contact Center Representative will return your call to the number you called from.
Remember: Always have your member number and access code when calling. If you cannot remember your access code or member number, after dialing the main number, press 4 to speak to a Contact Center Representative.
Q: What type of account information will I be able to listen to?
A: Basic account information such as balances, deposits, and last five transactions.
Q: What information should I have on hand in order to access the automated account option?
A: All you need to know is your member number and access code. Your access code is the same number you use to access MAX 24 (automated phone teller).
Q: How do I select the automated account information option over the phone?
A: After dialing the Kentucky Telco main number, press 4 to speak to a Contact Center Representative. You will then be prompted to enter your member number and access code to retrieve the account information. If you don’t know your number, a Contact Center Representative will be able to provide that to you.
Q: Do I have to listen to my automated account information or can I bypass this option?
A: You do not have to take advantage of this feature. You can still elect to speak to a Contact Center Representative by pressing 4 after dialing the main number.
Q: I’ve listened to my automated account information, but I still need to speak to a Contact Center Representative. Do I need to hang up and call back in?
A: After listening to your automated information, you will have the option to speak with a Contact Center Agent or end the call.
Q: Is retrieving account information secure over the phone?
A: Retrieving account information over the phone is just as secure as it is today with our Max24, automated telephone teller service. As with any service that allows you to access it with an account number and PIN or Access Code, you need to be aware of your surroundings and make certain that no one can see what numbers you press, just as you would at an ATM or cash register PIN-pad.
Q: Will any of the phone numbers change?
A: All phone numbers will remain the same. 800-292-9490 / 502-459-3000.
2013 President’s Report
Continued member support and strong auto lending during 2013 enabled Kentucky Telco Federal Credit Union to record an outstanding year. The credit union’s assets were $314 million, an increase of $18 million from the prior year. Our member deposits were $267 million, an $11 million increase. The loan portfolio grew to $193 million, an increase of $15 million. The credit union’s membership grew to 38,692, an increase of 2081 members.
The credit union strengthened our balance sheet by increasing our total capital $3.2 million, ending the year at $35.5 million. Our regulator, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), noted our excellent financial condition and quality operations during their annual examination.
The credit union continued making member service improvements. Our Wyman Branch was remodeled to improve member usage. Checking account products for young adults and individuals with difficulty qualifying for checking services were introduced. ATM deposit service was implemented at the University of Louisville Branch. New drive-thru equipment and cash dispensing machines were installed at key branches.
During 2014, our phone system and phone teller system will be replaced. Mobile account access functionality will be improved. The credit union will also begin a multi-year technology project to improve loan service convenience and reduce paper documents.
